Jayson’s work in television includes the NBC/Dick Wolf production Chicago Fire, shooting 74 episodes of the hit series. Before helming the show from season 4-6, he was the 2nd Unit Director of Photography for 38 episodes during seasons 2 and 3. Other television work recently found him shooting additional photography for the upcoming Starz series P-Valley as well as 2nd Unit for season 1 of the Netflix show Malibu Rescue. In addition to his work in television, he’s lensed two dozen features. Recent highlights include Force of Nature, directed by Michael Polish, starring Mel Gibson, Emile Hirsch and Kate Bosworth. Axis Sally, also directed by Michael Polish, starring Al Pacino and Mitch Pileggi, and director Vincent Grashaw’s festival hit, Coldwater, where his cinematography was applauded by critics.

His work has screened theatrically, appeared on network and cable television and has been seen on the festival circuit at SXSW, Tribeca and Camerimage to name a few. In addition to his work behind the camera, he’s enjoyed teaching cinematography workshops across the US, the Philippines and Kosovo. Jayson also served as the Technical Editor for the acclaimed book on cinematography and lighting, A Shot In The Dark. Prior to embarking on his professional career, he earned his BA from Columbia College Chicago and his MFA from the American Film Institute.

Jayson feels fortunate to love what he does and is always eager to collaborate with people who are excited to share their talents and passions. He currently lives in Los Angeles and is represented by DDA.
